Meet the members of the Board of Directors!


Irene AGUILAR SOLER

Irene was born in Bilbao, Spain and became a naturalized US citizen, holding a dual citizenship. She studied Law in Barcelona, Spain and very soon she was able to travel the world, getting to know different legal systems in Europe, South America, and the US. She lived and worked in Houston, Miami, and New York, considering herself a proud New Yorker, a city that she loves no matter where she lives. In NYC, she also specialized in Compliance and Financial Services which is her current niche of expertise.

Irene is currently Secretary General of the American Club of Madrid.

 


Frances G. ALDRICH LLOPIS

American who has lived in Spain since 1965. Worked for Humana Hospital, American Express, partner of Casa Decor. Board member of the Ronald McDonald House of Madrid, Ibiza Preservation Foundation, Regent of Spain for George Washington Ferry Farm Foundation. She’s been a member of the American Club of Madrid Board of Directors for over ten years.

 


Fernando F. CARMENA

Ph.D. from Duke University, Former Consultant and Executive in I.T. and Business Consulting, Dean of Business and Law School and Vice Provost at Universidad Europea de Madrid, co-author of a book on Resilience. Member of the ACM Board of Directors since 2014, he is the current President of the American Club of Madrid.




Garrett M. CIVIAN

Garrett is from Santa Rosa, California, and has been in Madrid for nearly 9 years.  He has been a member of the ACoM since 2018, and joined the BoD in April 2022.  Having seen the growth of the ACoM in the years leading up to the Covid pandemic, Garrett is enthusiastic about picking up where the previous Board left off, especially in growing the membership roll.

 




Sara DELPOPOLO

Sara is an Australian Lawyer with 25 years' experience in managing global IP portfolios, IP strategy, IT/technology. Sara has also worked as a Senior Contracts Specialist, working with business units & project teams on all contract related activities and policy compliance matters.

Sara was also a founding Committee Member of Women In Leadership, an initiative of the Australian American Chamber of Commerce which introduced a new stream of member events helping to raise AmCham’s membership engagement.

 


Joanne DIXON

Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Joanne has lived in Madrid for almost 15 years. She joined ACM in 2019 and was a member of the Business Leads Group (until it paused last year). She is interested in growing corporate membership and all kinds of networking opportunities for members, in Madrid and other parts of Spain. Special events and fun things too.

 



Natalia de la FIGUERA DE OLANO:

Natalia is a Spaniard who lived in the United Arab Emirates for 20 years working through her own Consulting Firm with  Government and private businesses. She always worked in adding value to the country business development. She spent summers in the U.S. and recently moved back to Madrid. She can explore new business opportunities and strategic  partnerships for the ACoM.

 




Susana GIMENO

Susana Gimeno is an expert in Business Communication via Social Media, and in organizing and managing events, and she is currently the ACM Board of Directors member in charge of those functions. She is part of the Management team of AMMDE, the Multisectorial Association of Women Managers and Entrepreneurs.

For several years she has performed in entertainment venues with her own musical group, with music of various genres, and she is currently undertaking her own technology startup in the music sector, AYNI Music.



Bruno GÓMEZ VEGA

Certified European Financial Advisor, who’d worked more than ten years in the traditional asset management industry, and then moved to Noesis Capital, a registered investment advisory firm based in Boca Raton, Florida, that offers comprehensive wealth management services to approximately 300 families and institutions in 33 different countries.

Noesis Capital is an ACM Corporate Member, represented by Bruno who is also a member of the ACM Board of Directors, in charge of Corporate Membership.

 


Terrence HAMILTON.

Born in the Bronx, New York, Terrence has been active on the current Board of Directors for over 9 months. He is currently the Vicepresident of the American Club of Madrid, and Chair for Membership. He also aides in Volunteering and campaigns and content for social media. He currently has planned membership initiatives to grow membership in the coming year.

 

Sarah J. SCHWARTZ

Sarah Schwartz is a dual qualified and trained US and Spanish Mergers and Acquisitions and Venture Capital attorney based in Madrid and partner at Across Legal. Sarah also the Co-Chair of the International M&A Joint Venture Committee of the International Section of the American Bar Association.  Sarah was born in Chicago, and she moved to Spain permanently 13 years ago.  Sarah joined ACM in 2021, and she is looking forward to help the club expand its membership and become a reference for business connections between Spanish and American businesses in Madrid.

 

Scott L. SMITH

Originally from Punta Gorda, Florida, Scott graduated from Florida State University with dual degrees in Finance and International Business. Scott’s career has mainly been in the education industry, having held senior management positions at education companies Pearson (UK) and McGraw-Hill Education (USA). Scott is currently Vice President of Global Sales atODILO, one of Europe’s fastest growing education technology companies with operations based out of Madrid. Scott was relocated to Madrid from Sydney, Australia in 2021 as part of his appointment at ODILO.

Upon arrival in Madrid, Scott became an ACM member and joined the Board of Directors of the Club as Treasurer; he works closely with the President and ACM Board to ensure the financial growth and stability of the Club.
